Životopis: Rođen 1957. u Zagrebu, studirao biokemijsko inženjerstvo na Tehnološkom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Zagrebu do 1980., doktorirao biokemiju na Sveučilištu u Zagrebu 1984, postdoktorand i gostujući znanstvenik na Sveučilištu u Regensburgu četiri godine u razdoblju 1988. -1998. Pedagoški rad: redoviti profesor na Prehrambeno-biotehnološkom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Istraživački rad: Biosinteza, struktura i svojstva stanične stijenke funga. Biotehnološka primjena površina mikrobnih stanica. 8 nacionalnih/internacionalnih istraživačkih projekata. Pozvani predavač na nizu domaćih i međunarodnih skupova. Bibliografija: 64 rada indeksirana u WoS-u, 2 međunarodna patenta. Dodatne aktivnosti: dekan Prehrambeno-biotehnološkog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Zagrebu (2003. -2007.), prodekan za međunarodne odnose (2011.-2015.), glavni tajnik Akademije tehničkih znanosti Hrvatske, glavni urednik časopisa Food Technology and Biotechnology, predsjednik Hrvatske udruge za znanstvenu komunikaciju. Član International Commission for Yeasts (IUMS), Hrvatskog društva za biokemiju i molekularnu biologiju, Hrvatskog mikrobiološkog društva i Hrvatskog društva za biotehnologiju. Počasni član Madžarskog mikrobiološkog društva. Dobitnik odlikovanja Akademske Palme Republike Francuske.

Biography: Born 1957 in Zagreb, studied Biochemical Engineering at the Faculty of Technology, University of Zagreb till 1980, received his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Zagreb in 1984, postdoctoral fellow and visiting scientist at University of Regensburg four years in the period 1988-1998. Pedagogical work: Full Professor at the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology, University of Zagreb. Research work: Biosynthesis, structure, and properties of fungal cell wall. Biotechnological application of microbial cell surfaces. 8 national/international research projects. Invited lecturer at a number of domestic and international meetings. Bibliography: 64 papers indexed in WoS, 2 international patents. Additional assignments: Dean of the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology, University of Zagreb (2003-2007), vice-dean for international relations (2011-2015), Secretary General of the Croatian Academy of Engineering, Editor-in-Chief of the journal Food Technology and Biotechnology, president of the Croatian Association for Scientific Communication. Member of the International Commission for Yeasts (IUMS), Croatian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Croatian Microbiological Society and Croatian Society for Biotechnology. Honorary member of the Hungarian Microbiological Society. Awardee of the Medal of Academic Palm, Republic of France.
